Anne Holland is Professor of Physiotherapy and Head of Respiratory Research at Monash University and Alfred Health in Melbourne, Australia. She is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow. Anne leads a research program that aims to improve the lives of people with chronic lung disease using non-pharmacological treatments. She chaired the working party that developed the ERS clinical practice guidelines on symptom management. Anne is currently the President of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Conjoint Professor Paul Robinson is the Deputy Director of the Children’s Health Environment Program within the Child Health Research Centre (CHRC), and Senior Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. His research program performs translational research outlining the role of peripheral airway function tests in early lung disease detection and ongoing monitoring of established disease. He has led the development and standardisation of novel measures of lung function across the entire age range from infancy onwards, facilitating the development of commercial equipment available for widespread use. His research focuses on defining the clinical utility of two specific peripheral airway function tests (Multiple breath washout, MBW, and oscillometry) in important obstructive lung diseases (e.g., asthma, cystic fibrosis, and post bone marrow transplant pulmonary graft vs host disease) and in understanding the impacts of environmental exposures. Structure-function relationships have been explored using state-of-the-art imaging techniques, with the aim of also developing new strategies to reduce any radiation exposure associated with these to advance incorporation into clinical care (e.g., ultra-low dose CT).

A/Prof Eve Denton is a consultant Respiratory, Sleep and Allergy Physician at the Alfred and St Vincent’s hospitals in Melbourne. She is the clinical lead for the Severe Asthma Service at the Alfred Hospital and has completed her PhD in the area of Severe Asthma and is engaged in post-doctoral research collaborations with the International Severe Asthma Registry and with the Australasian Severe Asthma Registry examining response to biologics and the impact of comorbidities on severe asthma.

John is a Registered Nurse leading respiratory nursing for Hunter New England Area Health as the Clinical Nurse Consultant for Airway Disease. Significant roles are developing a multi-disciplinary approach to airway disease, developing new models of care for COPD, asthma and Pleural disease. John is a Professional Member for the NMC, a co-convener for the Thoracic Society of Australia And New Zealand Nursing Group and member of HMRI Breathing for Life.

Dr Vikas Goyal is a Respiratory & Sleep Physician at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. His PhD on various aspects of bronchiectasis in children included 2 world's first international multi-center randomised controlled trials relating to the management of exacerbations published in the Lancet (2018) and the Lancet Respiratory Medicine (2019).

Peter Wark is a conjoint Professor of Medicine at Monash University, and the Director of Cystic Fibrosis and RES2, AIRMED, Alfred Health, Melbourne. He holds an honorary position as a senior staff specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle and is an adjunct Professor with the University of Newcastle and senior affiliate researcher at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) Immune Health Research programme at HMRI.He is the Director for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis clinic at the Alfred Hospital that manages the Victorian state-wide Cystic Fibrosis service, providing support to over 340 adult patients with CF in the context of a multidisciplinary team. As director of RES2 he also provides support to people with bronchiectasis and chronic suppurative lung disease. He works in the severe asthma clinic and general respiratory clinics at the Alfred with a special interest in complex airways disease. Since 2009 he has worked within the Commonwealth funded MOICD programme to provide respiratory and sleep outreach support at Narrabri and Moree working with the Kamillori people.

Paola Urroz Guerrero is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Newcastle and in the Centre of Excellence in Treatable Traits. Paola has a background in sport and exercise science. Her research has focused on physical inactivity and sedentary behaviour as treatable traits in people with severe asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis.

Dr Annemarie Lee is an Associate Professor in Physiotherapy at Monash University and a research fellow at the Institute for Breathing and Sleep. She has previously worked in senior clinical roles in pulmonary rehabilitation and airway clearance therapy. She is the co-developer of the Bronchiectasis Toolbox and Strong Lungs, websites for clinicians and patients with bronchiectasis or other chronic respiratory conditions. Her current research interests are in physiotherapy for bronchiectasis, including airway clearance therapy and exercise. Other areas of focus are the prevalence and clinical impact of comorbidities in bronchiectasis, including their effect on physiotherapy and management strategies which can be implemented.

Katrina is a Respiratory & Sleep Medicine in Sydney, NSW with clinical and research interests in airway physiology and airways disease. She works a Senior Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital and Associate Professor at the Westmead Clinical School, University of Sydney. She is also a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the UNSW and Research Affiliate at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.

Vanessa Clark is a post-doctoral researcher in translational asthma research within the Centre for Research Excellence in Severe Asthma. Severe Asthma is a complex disease, which is heterogeneous in it's nature and impacted by several comorbidities and exacerbated by several risk factors. Her recent work focuses around the best approach for the management of severe asthma and how to implement it that approach. This includes a primary care perspective, tertiary care perspective and patient perspective. In 2015 she was awarded a PhD at the University of Newcastle and has a background in psychology (Ba. Psychology, Hons I), and her overall research interests are chronic illness, health behaviours and mental health. Vanessa has experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods. She has experience with multi-centre randomised controlled trials, and research experience with several chronic diseases, including cancer and severe asthma, as well as severe mental disorders.

Dr Danielle Wurzel is a Respiratory Consultant at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), Early Career Researcher and Honorary Senior Fellow at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) and leads the Childhood Asthma and Bronchiectasis Research group within Allergy and Lung Health Unit, University of Melbourne (UoM). After completing a PhD in chronic wet cough and bronchiectasis in 2015 (University of QLD), Dr Wurzel’s post-doc studies investigate the role of early life factors in the pathogenesis of chronic lung diseases (bronchiectasis and asthma) with a focus on respiratory infections. She leads as CIA an NHMRC-funded birth cohort study in First Nations children investigating the early life risk factors for chronic lung disease.

Dr Rahul Thomas is a Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep physician at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. He secured the National Health and Medical Research Council post graduate scholarship to pursue a PhD in his primary area of interest of paediatric flexible bronchoscopy. He was central in setting up of the aerodigestive clinic at Queensland Children’s Hospital - a multi disciplinary clinic comprising paediatric respiratory, paediatric gastroenterology, paediatric thoracic surgery, paediatric ENT surgery, physiotherapists, speech pathology, and dietetics to help look after complex patients with aerodigestive issues. In partnership with the Queensland Lung Transplant service at The Prince Charles Hospital, he also established the Paediatric Lung Transplant Service at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in 2021 to look after paediatric lung transplant patients who return from the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne (the Nationally Funded Paediatric Lung Transplant Centre in Australia). He is also the service lead for the Flexible Bronchoscopy Service at the Queensland Children’s. He also reviews and publishes in his area of interest of paediatric flexible bronchoscopy. He is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and part of the TSANZ working party for recognition of competency in flexible bronchoscopy.
