The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) is committed to serving the professional needs of its members by improving knowledge and understanding of lung disease, with the ultimate goals being to prevent respiratory illness through research and health promotion and to improve health care for people with respiratory illness.

We lead, support and enable all health workers and researchers to prevent, cure and relieve the burden, disability and mortality caused by respiratory conditions.

As the leaders in lung health, we promote:

  • Highest quality and standards of patient care.
  • Development and application of knowledge about respiratory health and disease.
  • Highest quality air standards including a tobacco smoke free society, effective regulation of novel nicotine delivery systems and reductions in air pollution exposure.
  • Collaboration between all national organisations whose objects are to improve the wellbeing of individuals affected by respiratory conditions and to promote better lung health for the community.

The Thoracic Oncology Group of Australasia

The Thoracic Oncology Group of Australasia (TOGA) is a membership-based organisation representing the full range of professional disciplines involved in caring for patients with lung cancer, clinical trial professionals and consumer representatives. With a mission to prevent, treat and cure thoracic cancers through research, clinical trials, education and advocacy, TOGA provides a collaborative environment for respiratory physicians, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, palliative care specialists, cardiothoracic surgeons, scientists, nurses and people living with thoracic cancers, across Australia and New Zealand and internationally to design, conduct and publish clinical research.

Our charitable donations and fundraising programs support research to help discover better ways to diagnose, treat and support people with thoracic cancers. Through review of clinical and scientific evidence, TOGA provides a cutting-edge educational program for healthcare professionals to inform best practice care, and advocates for policy change and increased funding for lung cancer research.

The Australian College of Nursing is the peak professional body and leader of the nursing profession.

Our membership consists of clinical nurse experts, organisational leaders, academics, educators, and researchers, as well as early and mid-career nurses looking to move into leadership roles within the profession. The Australian College of Nursing is an accredited higher education provider and registered training organisation (RTO), graduating 100,000 nurses over the past 15 years with post-graduate qualifications. We are the Australian member of the International Council of Nurses headquartered in Geneva in collaboration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF).

Quit Centre

Quit Centre is a national online resource developed by health professionals, for health professionals. The goal is to ensure Australian health professionals have the latest clinical information, resources and training on smoking and vaping cessation to support their patients. The comprehensive and practical resources and training found on Quit Centre are created by a team with extensive knowledge of smoking and vaping cessation. The Quit Centre is maintained by the Quit unit of Cancer Council Victoria, and is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
