His research interests are focussed on making and translating research discoveries to improving outcomes and the health of people who are affected by lung disease particularly lung cancer screening/early detection and biomarkers. She is the Deputy Director of Medical Imaging at Royal Melbourne Hospital, a founding member of the Victorian Society of Thoracic Imaging and an honorary lecturer at Melbourne University. An investigator in the International Lung Screen Trial, Diane has also published and presented on topics including lung cancer imaging, pulmonary nodule detection, AI in radiology and imaging of pulmonary venous thromboembolism. Since 2019, she has been more focused on improving care for lung cancer patients, having worked with Cancer Australia to update the Lung Cancer Optimal Care pathway, provided radiological advice to the Cancer Australia Lung Cancer Screening Enquiry, and now as a member of several committees and working groups to help develop and deliver the Australian National Lung Cancer Screening Program. Nicole Rankin Nicole Rankin Associate Professor Nicole Rankin, PhD CF, is an implementation scientist and Head of the Evaluation and Implementation Science Unit in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne. She has 25 years’ experience working in cancer research and policy. Her research program focusing on the translation of evidence into practice and improving health outcomes in lung cancer screening and early detection, psycho-oncology and other chronic diseases. She leads a team commissioned by Cancer Australia to develop the National Lung Cancer Screening Program Guidelines.

Gerry Olive

Dr Gerry Olive is a Respiratory Physician at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane where he chairs the lung nodule and lung cancer MDTs. He is an early career researcher undertaking a PhD through the University of Queensland around the lung nodule diagnostic pathway, and is the current deputy convenor of the TSANZ Lung Cancer SIG.

Annette McWilliams

Dr McWilliams is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia. Dr McWilliams has previously been Head of Respiratory Medicine (2013-2018) for the commissioning and opening of FSH in 2015 and is currently Chair of the IASLC Screening and Early Detection Committee. She has held the role of Clinical Lead of the Thoracic Tumour Collaborative of WA since 2013 and is currently Medical Advisor for the Department of Health WA National Lung Cancer Screening implementation project. The primary focus of her work over the last 20 years has been the early detection and treatment of lung cancer with a particular focus on lung cancer screening and innovative bronchoscopic techniques.

Renee Manser

Associate Professor Renee Manser MBBS, FRACP, MSc, PhD is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at Royal Melbourne Hospital, visiting consultant respiratory physician at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and honorary Clinical Associate Professor, University of Melbourne, (Department of Medicine, Royal Melbourne Hospital). She is a clinician researcher with extensive clinical experience in lung cancer diagnosis and management, including diagnostic bronchoscopy, and research training in clinical epidemiology and health economics. Renee has had a longstanding interest in lung cancer screening and is the lead investigator for the International Lung Screening Trial at the Royal Melbourne Hospital site, having led the Quality-of-Life Sub-study of the ILST in collaboration with others. She has recently joined the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) working party to develop a clinical practice guideline on lung cancer screening. She has been a co-editor for the Cochrane lung Cancer Review group since 2015 and is the senior author of the most recent Cochrane Systematic Review on low dose CT screening for lung cancer published in 2022.

Henry Marshall

Associate Professor Henry Marshall, FRACP PhD, is a senior staff Thoracic Physician at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane and Visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, Brisbane. His research, at the University of Queensland Thoracic Research Centre, aims to reduce the burden of disease caused by lung cancer by focussing on lung cancer early detection, screening and smoking cessation. Tracy Leong

Tracy is a Respiratory Physician and Director of the Interventional Pulmonology Service at Austin Health. She is a lung cancer researcher at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute. She is the Chair of the TSANZ Lung Cancer Working Party and is a member of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program guidelines working group.
