In June 2020, Mr Pearson joined the Cabinet as Assistant Treasurer, Minister for Government Services and Minister for Regulatory Reform. He added the portfolio of Creative Industries to his responsibilities in October 2020 and held this role until June 2022.  Minister Pearson became the Minister for Housing in June 2022, in December 2022 he became Minister for Government Services and Consumer Affairs and in October 2023 was appointed to his current portfolios.  Mr Pearson holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School.

Simon has over 34 years’ international experience in the master planning, sustainable design, engineering design, project management, project review and independent sign-off of a wide range of mechanical building services in a multidisciplinary environment. Simon’s systems design experience includes, ESD, heating, ventilation, medical gases, air conditioning systems, steam and HTHW systems, domestic services, and above ground drainage. Simon has specialist design experience in healthcare, laboratory, and education building design. Simon also has expert capabilities in building thermodynamics and in air movement and contamination control using state of the art computational fluid dynamic software. Simon is the co-author and editor of the current Victorian Design Guidelines for Hospitals and Day Procedure Centres prepared for the Department of Health and is a peer reviewer of the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air-conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) handbook.

Dr Graeme Edwards is a Consultant Physician in Occupational and Environmental Medicine from Brisbane Australia. He has been involved in policy and advocacy for over three decades and represented the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in an Australian Federal Parliamentary Inquiry into biotoxin-related illnesses in 2018 and was a member of Australia’s National Dust Diseases Taskforce 2019-2021. A recipient in 2015 and 2019 RACP-AFOEM President’s Award for Policy and Advocacy on behalf of patients, the Faculty and the College, and was acknowledged in 2011 with QCOMP Return to Work Awards – Individual Health Provider by the Queensland Government. A former Chair of the RACP’s Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Policy and Advocacy Committee, continues as a member of that Committee.

She has more than 130 peer reviewed publications, as well as book chapters, grants and patents in the area. She was the Interim research director for the Asbestos and Dust Diseases Research Institute (on secondment), and a passionate educator. She is the 2024 Cleveland Kleinermann lecturer, and has an active grant-funded research program.

Associate Professor Henry Marshall, FRACP PhD, is a senior staff Thoracic Physician at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane and Visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, Brisbane. His research, at the University of Queensland Thoracic Research Centre, aims to reduce the burden of disease caused by lung cancer by focussing on lung cancer early detection, screening and smoking cessation. Dr Tiffany Lin is a final year respiratory trainee at Alfred Health who completed an Asthma and Allergy Fellowship in 2022. She has a keen interest in Occupational Lung Disease and is planning an Occupational Lung Disease Fellowship in Toronto in 2026.

Dr. Aruvi Thiruvarudchelvan (Aruvi Thiru) is a Sydney-based Respiratory and Sleep physician with extensive experience in public and private clinical work.

Having initially trained in psychology, Aruvi graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2010. She undertook basic training through RPA in Sydney, regional NSW, and Alice Springs, prior to commencing advanced training in Respiratory and Sleep medicine. Aruvi was admitted to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2019, having undertaken advanced training at Concord, Bankstown, and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney.

Aruvi has a clinical appointment at RPA in the ILD clinic, where her work involves managing ILD patients and working in ILD clinical trials. She also maintains a lively private practice, with several roles in Sydney and Wagga Wagga. Aruvi participates in clinical trials in sleep medicine at the Woolcock Institute, where she also manages patients with sleep concerns. At Holdsworth House in Darlinghurst, her case load involves patients with occupational lung diseases, as well as general respiratory and sleep medicine. She also regularly travels to Wagga Wagga where she sees a broad range of patients at Riverina Respiratory & Sleep.

Aruvi’s interests include interstitial lung diseases, occupational lung diseases and sleep medicine, in addition to general respiratory medicine.

Dr Kirsten Bennett is a respiratory advanced trainee and PhD candidate in Western Australia. Her areas of research interest include dust diseases and lung cancer screening, particularly reducing the radiation dose of computed tomography scans undertaken for surveillance and screening purposes.

He is now an emeritus Consultant Respiratory Physician in the NHS in Sheffield and holds an honorary Professorship in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Sheffield. He works also within the Centre of Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Manchester as a clinical senior lecturer. He is a Co-Director of the Centre for Workplace Health and health theme co-lead for the Thomas Ashton Institute at the University of Manchester.

Professor Deborah Glass MA, MSc, PhD, Cert Ed, Dip Occ Hyg, FAIOH Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health at Monash University. Deborah worked in industry as an occupational hygienist and at Birmingham University, as a consultant occupational hygienist and academic. She joined Monash University in 1998. She works in the field of exposure assessment for epidemiology, including petroleum industry, firefighters, coal mine workers and silicosis from artificial stone. She has published over 250 papers, reports etc. She is on the External Affairs Committee of the AIOH, has served on AIOH Council, the Certification subcommittee, Mentoring and Education subcommittees. She is a founder member of the Occupational and Environmental subcommittee of the Cancer Council of Australia and is on the ACGIH TLV committee. She has worked on four IARC monographs including Firefighters Vol 132.

Vanessa McDonald is a Professor of Nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Newcastle, Australia and an honorary clinical nurse consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Hospital. She is Co-Director of the Centres of Excellence in Severe Asthma and in Treatable Traits. Vanessa holds an honorary professorial appointment with the University of Manchester. Her research interests are centred around the development of innovative approaches to the management of chronic airway diseases. She is passionate about the development and implementation of personalised medicine strategies that place the person at the centre of health care delivery. Over >25 years Vanessa has developed expertise in in respiratory clinical nursing practice and education, has contributed extensively to respiratory health advocacy and health policy and, has developed as an internationally recognised respiratory researcher. She is committed to committed to improving the health and quality of life of people with lung disease in our region and internationally, and to the mission of lung health.

Following specialist respiratory training, he completed a master’s degree in occupational health at Monash University and a fellowship in Occupational Lung Diseases at the University of Toronto. He is the lead physician for the Occupational Respiratory Clinic at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Monash University Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health. He has 24 publications on the topic of silicosis since 2017. In 2019, Dr Hoy was appointed to the Australian National Dust Disease Taskforce, which undertook an independent review of the systems in place for the prevention silicosis from engineered stone. In 2022, he has chaired the National Silicosis Prevention Strategy, facilitated by the Lung Foundation of Australia.

Dr Hayley Barnes, PhD, FRACP, MPH, MBBS, BBiomedSci Hons) is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at Alfred Hospital, and a Research Fellow at the Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health and School of Translational Medicine, Monash University, Melbourne.

Anita Arian is an experienced asbestos and dust diseases associate based in Maurice Blackburn's Melbourne office. She specialises in in asbestos and other dust disease compensation claims and has extensive experience in this area.

Professor Mandana (Mandy) Nikpour is a rheumatologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney and a researcher in the field of systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases at the University of Sydney. Her research interests include risk and prognostic factors for clinically important outcomes in lupus and scleroderma, development of clinical tools for screening and prediction of outcome, measurement of disease activity and damage, and clinical trials of novel therapies in the rheumatic diseases. Prof Nikpour is a Fellow of the prestigious Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and has received numerous prizes and awards for research achievements.

Associate Professor Peter Franklin is an environmental and occupational epidemiologist at the School of Population and Global Health (SPGH), University of Western Australia (UWA), with research interests in mining exposures and disease (including respiratory disease and cancers), the health effects of air pollution (indoor and outdoor), and early life environmental exposures and children’s health. He is Director of the Occupational Respiratory Epidemiology research group at SPGH.

Hubertus Jersmann migrated to Australia from Germany in the eighties and works as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician in the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He visits Alice Springs Hospital since 2011. Dr Jersmann has a special interest in occupational lung disease and interventional pulmonology, in particular treating select cases of severe COPD with endobronchial valves to achieve non-surgical lung volume reduction. Hubertus has an MD in human genetics and a PhD in immunobiology and is a Professor in the School of Medicine, University of Adelaide. He enjoys the mix of treating patients, research in the lab as well as clinical trials, and of course, teaching under- and postgraduates.
