Matthew is professor of Respiratory Medicine at Macquarie University and Senior Specialist in Dept of Respiratory Medicine at Concord Hospital. He has contributed for many years to advancement of Public Health in the area of Tobacco Control and more recently this has extended to control of the harms of vaping. He has served TSANZ, NHMRC and health agencies to achieve this and has performed a range of community educational activities.

Christine McDonald is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at The University of Melbourne and Director, Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Austin Health, Melbourne.  She is a respiratory physician and researcher with research interests in oxygen therapy and non- pharmacological management of chronic respiratory disease, especially COPD. She chaired the 2024 Update of the TSANZ Clinical Practice Guideline on Adult Domiciliary Oxygen Therapy.

Associate Professor Michelle Jongenelis has expertise in health promotion, intervention development and evaluation, behavioural psychology, and clinical psychology. She works across multiple and diverse health-related behaviours including alcohol and tobacco control. Michelle works as a researcher and consultant for a broad range of organisations covering the not-for-profit and government sectors. She sits on the Australian Council of Smoking and Health, and the World Federation of Public Health Associations’ Tobacco Control Working Group. Michelle is also co-convener of the Public Health Association of Australia’s Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs SIG. In 2024, Michelle was awarded TSANZ’s President’s Award. This award was given in recognition of Michelle’s work in tobacco and e-cigarette control that has advanced our understanding of the drivers of e-cigarette uptake.

Dr Nia Luxton is a senior lecturer and physiotherapist. Nia's teaching and research focuses on health policy and promotion including smoking and e-cigarette vaping and cessation, education of current and future health professionals, community pulmonary rehabilitation and digital health.

Dr Connie Chong is a Paediatrician who works in the Department of Adolescent Medicine at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne and in the Department of Addiction Medicine at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.  She enjoys working with young people who are transitioning into adult roles whilst managing physical, psychological and psychosocial complexities.

Dr Eileen Cole is the GP Lead for Quit. She works with a team of health professionals at Quit Centre (quitcentre.org.au) which provides health professionals with the latest information on smoking and vaping cessation. Eileen has spent much of her clinical career working with adolescents and young adults in university health services. In addition to her role at Quit, Eileen currently works as a Medical Advisor for the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care and as a sessional lecturer at Deakin University.

Dr Moya Vandeleur is a Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Specialist at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne and the department research lead. Her clinical work involves children with general respiratory and sleep problems. She has a number of research interests that reflect her clinical practice. Moya is the Deputy Chair of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) Tobacco & Related Substances SIG and has a special interest in adolescent medicine and the health effects of vaping. She contributed to the soon to be published TSANZ “Interim guidance for the management of electronic cigarette use (vaping) in adolescents and adults.

Hiep is a Respiratory and Sleep Paediatrician at the Royal Children’s Hospital. He maintains a research post at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute/University of Melbourne and is completing a PhD focusing on mental health in adolescents with cystic fibrosis. Hiep also contributes to the public health space with a particular focus on matters affecting adolescents and young adults.

Adam is an Addiction Medicine Physician and Deputy Director of the Department of Addiction Medicine St Vincent’s Hospital. He is a member of the Smoking and Vaping Cessation Professionals Special Interest Group of Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and Other Drugs. Adam helped establish the tobacco cessation clinic at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He has publications across Addiction using a mixture of quantitative, qualitative and randomised trial research designs. He peer reviews for scientific journals, teaches students and junior doctors, and contributes to national guidelines regarding substance use treatment. He is also a Board Member for YSAS (Youth Support and Advocacy Service).

Professor Smita Shah OAM is a distinguished Community Physician and the Founder and Director of the Prevention Education and Research Unit (PERU) at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Professor Shah's career is marked by her dedication to improving health outcomes, addressing health disparities, implementing evidence-based interventions, and making a positive impact on the well-being of individuals, communities, and society as a whole. Professor Shah has received numerous accolades, including the Order of Australia Medal for her exceptional work in community health, Excellence in Healthcare Award by the Australian Medical Association for contributions to Indigenous and disadvantaged communities and TSANZ President’s Award for outstanding respiratory health advocacy.

Ms Janet Williams is a Respiratory Nurse Consultant with formal qualifications in nursing and education, is active in both public and private health systems. She has experience conducting respiratory specialist clinics in general practice including supporting Smoking and E-Cigarette Cessation, Spirometry testing, writing, and updating Asthma and COPD action plans, providing medication device technique reviews as well as supporting lung health education and promotion. As a member TSANZ since entering the field Janet is the current deputy convener of the TSANZ Special Interest Group -Occupational and Environmental Lung Disease (TSANZ SIG OELD) and is a member of the Occupational Lung Disease Working Group.

Appointed manager of the Lung Health Promotion Centre at the Alfred Hospital in March 2015, Janet manages and presents with world-class health professionals a diverse program of specialist and general lung health and education seminars and courses, including The Lung Health Promotion Centre at The Alfred, unique in Australia is a leading Centre for courses related to Respiratory conditions including Smoking and E-Cigarette (Vaping) Cessation, Asthma and Severe Asthma and Allergy, COPD and Spirometry, as well as patient engagement and education methods, motivational interviewing and positive psychology.

Chris is an Associate Professor in the Department of General Practice at Monash University. A specialist primary care scientist his research has focused on the primary care management of chronic illness across a 20-year academic career. His research has focused on lived and patient experience of chronic disease, and smoking cessation, in general practice.

Associate Professor Henry Marshall, FRACP PhD, is a senior staff Thoracic Physician at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane and Visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, Brisbane. His research, at the University of Queensland Thoracic Research Centre, aims to reduce the burden of disease Caused by lung cancer by focussing on lung cancer early detection, screening and smoking cessation.
